FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is FICTIONWERKS?
FICTIONWERKS is a part of Dale O’Dell Photography & Digital Art and is solely devoted to his phenomenological imagery, research and analysis of the strange and unusual. Similar to Budd Hopkins, Dale is a commercial and fine-artist who became involved with the UFO and Paranormal Phenomena genres. If you are looking for Dale’s photography & digital art website, please see www.dalephoto.com.
So, what’s the deal with the pictures on this website?
All of these pictures are illustrations. They are not real. All the imagery is either imaginary or based on reports of UFOs, ghosts, angels, cryptids or other strange phenomena. These are not hoaxes! A hoax is a lie, an intentional fabrication meant to deceive the viewer. A hoax picture is one that is presented and represented as authentic. Dale has never perpetrated a hoax and has always presented this imagery as illustrative and not real. Sadly, Ufology is contaminated with hoaxes, misinformation and disinformation. If you ever find one of these pictures reproduced elsewhere and represented as real, please contact FICTONWERKS so we can set the record straight. All imagery on this website, and the entire site, is copyrighted by Dale O’Dell and cannot be used without permission.
Can I buy one of these pictures?
Yes! But you’ll have to email dale@cybertrails.com for sizes, price and delivery information. All images are available in multiple sizes, framed or unframed. If you
wish to make a purchase from the online store just click to add to the shopping cart and pay via PayPal. Only the online store is e-commerce enabled, but you can order a print via email and payment can be made via PayPal or credit card.
How are the pictures created?
Cameras, computers and imagination. Dale is a photographer and digital artist. With a vast file of photographs, and more created every day, backgrounds are selected for the ‘setting’ and then UFOs are added digitally. 99% of the time the flying saucers are props; models that are photographed against a Chroma-Key background and then composited onto the background. On rare occasions, Dale will use Bryce 3D or Poser software to add computer-generated elements to the image, but he prefers ‘old fashioned’ props most of the time instead of synthetic looking CGI. 3D software is used more frequently to produce ghost, angel and cryptid imagery.
